muck people

continuing painting some more from the Mantic Games Haunted Manor box set,
these minions i figure are supposed to be the deep ones from H.P. Lovecraft's stories.
but since they lack the fish characteristics i call them the muck people.
and not too long ago i found out that these figures are from the Hellboy board game,
so i might look on eBay for a few more to add to the group.
i had my next Perilous Tales scenario figured out and sorted but in my head it didn't
fit with the theme that i had started.
so i pulled these out, painted them quickly and got them table-readied for the next
installment of my western themed Perilous Tales.

i didn't know how i was gonna use these originally for Dungeons and Dragons,
but for a modern pulp or even a wild west, these would work nicely.
as i am writing this post, i am definitely thinking of getting a few more for other table-top
games i enjoy playing.

the one muck man who seems like they are wearing pants i didn't feel like that is
D&D attire which made me at first put them aside and sit on them until
a better time to use them.
but i feel the time is now and i went about painting them for my pulp games.
but now i am rethinking that light purple maroon color shirt.
oh well it is finished and done.

got a few more gravestones done for the table-top.
not sure where they are from but the stone on the far right is from a classic plastic sprue
of the Warhammer fantasy skeleton warriors.
(edit: the left stone is from Games Workshop, i assume from the zombie plastic set from
2004, and the middle stone is a Ral Partha piece.)
Great work on what you are calling Muckmen, in Hellboy they are frogmen. The gravestone on the left of the picture is also a GW plastic as I recall, not sure about the one in the middle.
ReplyDeletethank you, the one large monster in the set is called the giant frog monster so I should have known.
Deleteand that gravestone did look familiar I just couldn't remember where it was from.
just realized that gravestone in the middle, i got at a gaming convention while sifting through a dump bin of Ral Partha metal bits. was something like you pay by the ounce. picked up some other nice bits also.
DeleteLove the gravestones, might dig around the bin and throw a couple of mine on bases
ReplyDeletethanks. hell yeah would love to see what you got.
DeleteThese look great! Excited to see them in a game.
ReplyDeletethank buddy.
DeleteT'Interweb seems to be eating my comments. Anyway,
ReplyDeleteVery nice Muck Critters, how about using them as Bullywugs?
The left hand tombstone is from the GW zombie regiment sprue (I'm currently trying to decide if I should build some for my Old School undead, are they too modern?)
bullywugs..hmm. interesting heh.
Deleteahh zombie regiment, no wonder i couldn't find it, i was looking up skeleton sprues.
in my opinion, i probably wouldn't add them to an Oldhammer army.
what era is the majority of your undead figures from? base your decision off that.
Good point, most of the minis are 80's and I believe the plastic zombies were mid 90's?
