the Whateleys: perilous (western) tales

after getting away from the giant frog monster, Puckett and company continued
cautiously towards the Whateley's homestead.
William Loomis told the others the stories he has heard about the Whateley family,
and most of it was not good to hear.
stories ranging from the many "miscarriages" the poor daughter had to a deformed son
that was eventually born and is rarely seen during the day.
other stories were told about the countless dead cattle littered across their pasture
and how most of the help around the farm is "unfortunate."

the episode is the Whateley's.
(this scenario is from the rulebook.)

the objectives are: Kill the Master, Get Evidence, and Tell Us What You Know.
the perils in the game are: Creeping Horror, Putrid Stench, and the Horde.
which all were randomly generated.

i tried to arrange the terrain to make it seem like the party was approaching the farm
house closer than the last game.

starting the game with the threat level at a four i rethought a strategy and just
be aggressive and get to the master villain.
taking the best hero in the group, i pushed Puckett into the center of the area and popped
three threat markers which was a cultist, Wilbur Whateley and Lavinia Whateley.

the group was able to take out the threat but also summoned additional cultists.
while everything was happening, Rita Lynn was able to score points for the
Tell Us What You Know objective.

Mr. Dennis failing a horror check,
while everyone else was getting the work done.

the "Dunwich Horror" appeared and attacked Rita Lynn.

by successfully passing an Escape the Combat check, Rita Lynn was able to begin
unloading her shotgun at the "Horror" and everyone else followed suit,
taking him down by the end of the turn.

by racking up a lot of threats Old Whateley appeared and also one additional cultist.
Mrs. Dennis took quite a beating, fearing she was going to become a casualty.

at the threat level hit ten the game came to an end.
this went a little bit better than i expected but i didn't do so well in the grading process.
coming out with a C grade i guess i did pretty fair.

i think i still don't have confidence in my heroes to where i need to run in guns blazing
and get the objectives completed and find key villains to bring home a win.

but overall it was fun.
might take a small break after this to get some things together for another small
batch of Perilous Tales games like some new buildings, scatter terrain and some more
miniatures like civilians.

until next time.....💀💀💀💀💀💀

  1. Always fun to read your game reports, and it's good to see those Whately's in action (just wait until they meet Wilbur's twin).
