misc. characters for D&D (updated)

just some more Dungeons and Dragons miniatures that
got painted and finished for a recent session our group had
last weekend.

there were a few characters/creatures i couldn't find under the
Wizkids Unpainted Miniatures line,
so i went and got the prepainted ones and added some shading or some color here
and there to least make them look like their painted so they'll fit in with the
rest of the collection i have.

Tortle Monk.
i have been thinking of a tortle character for some time but couldn't find an unpainted one.
so i got this one painted with some light brown drybrush,
used Citadel Golgfag Brown drybrush paint for the skin.
redid his bead necklace and added a black wash.

(edit: after trying to straightening out the staff the tortle originally had several times
and failing, i ended up clipping it and drilling a hole through his hand.
inserting a spear from a skeleton sprue i had left over and then added a bit on the
end for the head of the staff, creating a new staff.
)

and ever since getting this figure,
i've been watching Kung Fu Panda a lot lately.

Loxodon Cleric,
playing Magic: the gathering for so long i always loved the artwork that involved
Loxodons being it was the white or green spell cards.
they always seem to have a presence about them and kind of the reason i wanted one.
also a prepainted miniature, i redid the tusks and gave it a black wash bath.

a Banderhobb,
and the last prepainted, i needed a monster to creep around the sewers where
the adventure party was in.
i did some green highlights and went back and retouch on the eyes.
took the same Citadel Golgfag Brown drybrush paint
and went over the warts and skin folds and a nice black wash bath.

deep under the streets of the city, the adventure party comes across an abomination.

"feel the wrath of the Light!!"

had an elf cleric miniature and needed a villain.
instead of the majestic white hair went with a black and redid the staff.
i thought a lighter tone of the clothes and then a rich red cloak would be
a good touch for a evil guy.

the second harengon from a pack i got way back when Rita picked
one for a rogue character.
i clipped the hand that originally held a whip and gave this little fellow a staff,
as if he was a student of the tortle monk posted above.

more to come...

  1. Really enjoyed this posting, particularly with regards to the Banderhobb, as I've tried repainting that very figure, and its still never got past the base colours stage, LOL!!! I thought your additions to it were an excellent idea. The conversion on the second harengon is terrific too, and I especially like your suggestion that they were a student of the tortle monk. All adds to the personality of the figure/s.

    1. thanks man. I don't try to be an expert painter, I just try to find ways on making this better with simple ideas.

  2. Great stuff. I do like the less traditional PCs, though my background is very 'Old School'.
I'd collection them myself but the campaign is completely online.
