operation MotU: here, there, Skeletors everywhere

when i bought my first set of CMON Clash of Eternia board game in the bonus box
there were mini He-Man and Skeletor figures.
these were about half the size of the actual figures with two poses each.
and at the time i really didn't have a use for them so i chucked them out,
not knowing what i could do with them in the future. 

with my second set i bought back in April i went and saved all the miniatures just
in case i needed something or even parts for conversions.
it wasn't until recently i began binge watching MotU episodes on Youtube and came across
an episode (s2, ep51) where Man-At-Arms was testing out a duplication device
and later on Skeletor got his hands on it.

more into the episode Skeletor uses it and creates little duplicates of himself.
and as i am watching i remembered i had those mini He-Man and Skeletor figures in a box.
took them and gave them 25mm thin bases and a quick paint job.

re-watching the episode i thought up a scenario for Space Weirdos,
eventually i want to build a duplication device of my own for the scenario as an
game objective.

compare the size to the "real" Skeletor.
when i went to paint them i used the wrong shade of purple for their armor so when
you look at them closely the color is off a bit.
and also the head of the staff is i didn't paint it gray like i did on the "real" Skeletor.
that's what happens when you're lazy and don't pull out the original figure for
color reference.

Skeletor has Moss Man and Man-E-Faces cornered with his Skeletoids.

    Great fun, they make a lovely family group.
    When you say that you want to build a duplicator, I hope you mean a model of one...

    This is why wargamers never throw anything out, as one day it will be useful ! LOL completely forgot about that episode and great use of the smaller models, the differences in color actually makes them unique and identifies them as copies.

      yeah I tend not to throw stuff out. I just didn't think of using the small miniatures up until that point.

      haha thanks. time to time as I was painting them I was laughing like them, repeating lines from the cartoon using skeletor's voice.

several months ago i purchased a few wild west gaming items and when i got this idea to create a western theme Perilous Tales campaign i needed something that would resemble the Whateley family from the lore of H.P. Lovecraft. i was not sure where to find such an obscure collection of figures, especially for a western theme but i looked high and low. i looked at other game systems and found that Dracula's America had a great selection of horror themed miniatures that i wasn't even aware of. so i got the box set of the Church of Dagon miniatures, which basically screams Lovecraft in the name. after looking over what the set had i knew this was perfect for what i needed for Perilous Tales. the old father, the mysterious daughter, the deformed son, and even some not so well looking fellows. all i needed was the "Dunwich Horror" but i had a spare alien figure from my discarded Zombicide Invaders board game. several of the followers of Old Whateley. the Whateleys: perilous (western) tales

after getting away from the giant frog monster, Puckett and company continued cautiously towards the Whateley's homestead. William Loomis told the others the stories he has heard about the Whateley family, and most of it was not good to hear. stories ranging from the many "miscarriages" the poor daughter had to a deformed son that was eventually born and is rarely seen during the day. other stories were told about the countless dead cattle littered across their pasture and how most of the help around the farm is "unfortunate." the episode is the Whateley's. the gold of San Venganza - Perlious Tales

 was kind of bored today so i took out my Perilous Tales material and set up a nice little game. one reason i love this game is that you can almost create a game using any genre with it. this time around i wanted to do a wild west episode. in an abandoned town of San Venganza there are rumors of lost gold and treasures. those who went out to find it never made it back. a group of outlaws make their way to the place where stories of ghosts haunting the empty buildings and guarding the gold. but those are just stories... layout of the table. fearless gang of outlaws., William Batts, Scarlett Doyle, Mr. Eastwood, Preston, and O' Connell. the objectives. right in the beginning of the game the gang came across someone who was hostile. another person out here trying to find the gold. after a successful parley the gang convince the old man to join them and work together. the stories were true! this town is filled with ghosts and wandering spirits. after ridding spirit another one appears....
