the night haunters: perilous (western) tales

on this cloudy April day i figured i would get in a game of Perilous Tales since i got the time
and nothing to do productively.

in this episode the group is trying to find out why it's so quiet and still.
the skies are darker than normal and whispers of winged creatures terrorizing the skies.
this episode is the night haunters.
(the gargoyles in the rulebook.)

the objectives are: Recover Equipment, Get Evidence, and Rescue the Prisoner.
the perils in the game are: Tempted Forward, The Captain, and Disoriented.
which all were randomly generated.

as usual, began the game using Eagle Eye to take a peep at some threat markers.
Mr. Dennis advances towards #7 threat marker and it reveals the "The Lady" McKenzie,
which is terrified as she launches herself and attacks.

the following turn a parley was successful and she became part of the group.

the threat marker William Loomis saw, was one of the two night haunters.
i had to think of a tactic to spend the least amount of time to kill this monster because if it
deals one wound to a target, that target dies no matter how many wounds it can take.

for the first time i had a death in the group, Mrs. Dennis was killed by the night haunter.
which in turn everyone had to make a horror check, and passed.
Rita Lynn threw a chance into the wind and revealed two threat markers at once.
one happened to be a swarm of bats.

easy fight but dealing with horrible dice rolls.
she was able to take out the swarm of bats but took some damage in the process.

with basically three threat markers left, "The Lady" McKenzie ran up towards the sheriff
building and the second night haunter spawned.

the other threat marker that she revealed must have caught her off guard to where she
was an easy prey for the night haunter.

the group positions themselves up to take out this major threat.
Rita Lynn, Mr. Dennis, and William all took aim with their firearms,
bringing the monster's health down enough to where Abraham was able to finish it off for good.
afterwards take out another swarm of bats that spawned during the fight.

Mr. Dennis guards the sheriff's building while Abraham rescues the prisoner who
was locked up for a crime he didn't commit.

ending the game with the threat level at 7 isn't that bad and completing half the
objectives i would say this was a good game.
having Mrs. Dennis taken out was a big chunk of victory points i could have had.
she was the one who was selected to carry a "camera" to complete the
objective, Get Evidence.

but with a grade of a C i guess that isn't all bad after all.
so now it's off to do experience points and see what i could upgrade.
the more XP i spend for upgrades the group's Infamy rating goes up.
which makes the starting threat level of the game increase also,
and i'm sitting at level 3 at the moment.
so if i do upgrade anything future games are gonna be interesting.

more to come......💀💀💀💀💀
