beginners intro of Cthulhu: Death May Die

after watching several gameplay videos of Cthulhu: Death May Die,
i was kinda hooked.
the suspense and the mystery behind it all was appealing.

so while contemplating on buying the starter box it kept selling out.
patience not being one of my virtues i waited until an online store i frequent shop with got a restock shipment in.

i popped out all the tokens and game boards and sorted out the characters and monsters i thought why not give it a go and learn the rules as i play.

with six "episodes" within each set i went for episode one but accidentally
pulled out the second episode instead.

using the Yog-Sothoth entity expansion pack for this learning experience.

the characters i used.
Fatima, Ahmed, and Rasputin.

the character miniatures.

Rasputin killed a cultist and found a Forbidden Relic,
which two are needed to collect a tome, which then two tomes are needed to disrupt
the ritual to bring forth the Elder God to be destroyed.

Rasputin took charge against the Chthonic Entity to try to claim a tome.
the Entity had eight wounds, with some great dice rolling and
a sneaky card that negates a monsters turn, he was able to defeat
the monster at the beginning of the next turn.

Yog Sothoth's henchman, Wilbur Whateley was summoned though a gate.

after trading few Knowledge Relic tokens from Rasputin to Ahmed, Ahmed will be able to claim
a tome next turn.

Fatima and Rasputin went to take out some cultists and collect some Knowledge Relic tokens.

Ahmed was able to claim one tome with a price of his sanity.

drawing a Mythos card which pretty much brings back a cultist back to life...
puts us back a few steps in the plan.

Wilbur appeared through a portal along with few cultists and attempted to attack Ahmed.

with the help from Rasputin the duo was able to clear the area and claim two tomes...

in turn summonning Yog-Sothoth into our realm.
a cultist was also brought through a blue portal.

a relentless assault on the Elder One but also paying a price on sanity and health.

the cultist killed Fatima.
Rasputin and Ahmed was able to deliver twelve wounds to Yog-Sothoth.
but the Elder Ones have multiple levels so the cast of characters needs to wound him
more with more complications added with every level.
after clearing the second level i thought he was dead, but i realized there's more so i took a break.

i would say it is better to have more than three characters but this was a
session of gaming to learn the rules. i know i missed a few things here and there.
but over all i recommend this game. its fun and a thinking game in a way.
