Chronicles of HATE II - clash one

Rita and i have decided to begin another chronicles of HATE this past weekend but
this time we picked different tribes to get a feel of playing style than
we were used to with our first tribes we picked last year.

let the season of HATE begin...

(just a side note, i did not paint any of the miniatures, mainly because i want to take my time and do a really good job, they are so damn detail and nicely sculpted, i just don't want to ruin them. i used the pics below to show what the tribes we used for our chronicle look like.)

this time around we have a better grasp on the rules unlike our first go with the game
where we made several mistakes along the way,
and when i say we it was mainly i.

when we selected our tribes to play with,
we basically picked at random and just make it a learning process as we went.

the tribe of Um, Rak are a tightly-knit group of savages, centered
around their mighty Prince.
On the battlefield they move like a hive-minded band of angry men,
swarming over their opponents.

Rita picked these pack hunters.

The Tribe of Um'Gra once ruled over all the others, though that time is
now gone (but not forgotten).
The men of the tribe are armies unto themselves.
The women and powerful sorceresses and spiritual guides.
They are reckless, and that is their strength (at the same time that it's their weakness).

this is going to be a group i have to get used to real quick.
main tactic is get in fast, cleave some heads, and go home.

first battle

the scenario for the first battle is Pillars of Rot.
there are four tokens that are poisonous spores that are able to damaged and probably
kill all those around them.
other than that it's a kill festival.

the set up of the first battle of a new chronicle.
pretty much take out each other but with some surprises in between.

the purple tokens represent exploding spores, if attacks or a figure carrying one
is attacked they explode causing damage for anyone around it.

the prince of the Um' Rak tribe didn't hesitate and took out my tribe's champion.

i took a chance and attacked a spore token and took out two of Rita's warriors
and also one of my warriors.
sacrifices had to be made.

i entered a hut to find a warrior that was to defend the hut,
and i lost the duel.
that was a low point.,i lost a warrior to a game token..lol.

at this point of the game its mid way through turn two,
and both Rita and i are sort of on a level playing field until...

the Um' Gra prince takes out another member of the enemy tribe,
while more of Rita's tribe died.
by achieving six KO'd or dead, i won this battle.
hopefully i can carry this momentum into the next battle and we this clash.

second battle

the second battle is Forsaken Woods.
in this one we are able to capture a mercenary for our tribes.

the set up pf the board and since we're able to use a mercenary,
i had Rita shuffle up the card deck and randomly pick a merc.
and lord abd behold, it was the same one i used last year (unknowingly wrong).
this is by far my favorite merc.

thinking of trying to end this early and quick i tried to maneuver the merc and keep
him on my side of the board which proved to be a by idea.

to show a neutral movement we both used a mercenary action deck to dictate
what the merc would do.
every time we thought we had something happening for the good disaster would strike.

after a few turns of trying to subdue the raging merc,
i only had five members of my tribe left.
i could of retreated but i pressed on.

i started to advance the board with what i had left.
Rita had still a good part of her tribe intact.

by Round 4, Char, the merc took out the Um'Rak prince.

i was able to down the mercenary by putting up a great fight against him and Rita.
i positioned my tribesmen to a strategic formation to where i can carry the merc's body
and in case it is dropped another tribesman is able to pick it up.

the carnage after Round 4,
all the dead and wounded.
in the end i finally won the merc fair and square.
i have to admit this was a hard fight to overcome and win.

the map after first clash.
