throwback: Great Unclean One

Image
this past week i received a large haul of gaming stuff. miniatures i never seen before, several pieces i remember from when i started gaming with second edition Warhammer 40k, and stuff i only seen pics of on the internet or old hobby magazines. and in the stockpile of stuff i got i was able to get a sealed Great Unclean One daemon miniature. this bad boy came out in 1996 and i remember getting mine in '97 and taking it to my first Games Day '98 for the Golden Daemon competition. this is the first miniature i painted in about 2 weeks, taking a break from painting my German Nazis for my pulp gaming collection. i pretty went about doing it the same way i did my Death Guard space marines last year. still in the box. so many memories.. totally forgot some of the larger miniatures came in a foam insert. the smell of aged metal was funny, haven't worked with miniatures that were this size and multiple pieces like this. everything now these days is plastic. glued all the pieces an...

Hostile Takeover - Fistful of Lead

Image
been wanting to do this scenario for some time now, and finally had some time with my girlfriend Rita and her four boys during a hectic week to play this out. layout of the table. Sgt. Rock and the Hellhounds started at the far end of the market bazaar and has been instructed on a mission of rescuing a local official who has been kidnapped by mercenaries who are working for a greater power that is trying to take over the general area. the Hellhounds. the mercenaries with the hostage. (when pics were taken there was a miniature missing who was the merc leader w/ the hostage.) the Hellhounds making their way through the market bazaar with caution. the mercs making their towards the tanks. seemed like a good idea. with strange noises coming from the distance, a pteranodon flew down. the dinosaur took some damage once it hit the table. did manage to snatch up one of the mercenaries. sadly being wounded the merc was able to free himself but once he landed back down on the roof, he fel...

arab table terrain

Image
some pics of my arab/middle eastern table terrain that i have been working on for several weeks. its not much but i'm pretty much proud of it. might be adding more buildings and/or scatter pieces to give it a more urban feeling down the road. i mainly use this set for my pulp games, but i would think u might be able to use the buildings for a town on a desert planet for a sci-fi game. unlike my cheap ass sci-fi terrain that i made myself, this set is all 3d printed that i ordered through Etsy.com. the buildings were made by the shop called Panhandle3d, link for the Panhandle3d shop. you are able to order the buildings with or without the rooftop domes, which i went with both sets. the tents, the market bazaar pieces and the temple statues were made by DungeonTorch. link for the DungeonTorch shop. here are few scatter pieces to create a small market. some temple statues being sold. different angles of an emptied marketplace.
