boomtown boomed!

Image
few weeks ago i got around and finished the rest of my wild west buildings. i'm debating on getting a hotel or even a fairly wide building for a brothel or even another hotel building. for now though i am content on what i have so far. just need to start collecting scatter terrain such as wagons, posts, crates and stuff like that. nicely spaced and with some scatter terrain my wild west set-up is almost 4-5ft. x 3ft., which is pretty good in my opinion despite not having much money to spend with at this moment. the last six buildings that finishes my little town. i did notice some discoloration on the sign boards from when i glued the letters, but that's alright i guess. makes it look more less modern in a way. i also managed to get a few more characters done for my wild west collection. Sheriff Grayson and Charles Schultz Calvin Hobbes and William Bonney "lay down your weapons and come along peacefully, you refuse, then well i'm gonna have to shoot ya!" the sher

even more misc. characters for D&D

since our D&D group has been coming to the end of our second campaign, i've been getting some figures that have been sitting around painted. bouncing between the wild west stuff and the getting what i needed done for the D&D campaign, it's been a chore. now since a member of our group, Jon is gonna have a run at dungeon mastering, i can get things painted and done that's not D&D related. here are just a few figures i did this past week. i have several orcs and goblins i want to do for Orctober so i'm saving those for then. i have a few more D&D odds and ends to do, but i have been starting to do a little prep work for my follow-up campaign after Jon's, collecting figures and basing them. catalog what i have and what i will need. a vampire, but not just a vampire. a pivotal figure in our recent campaign, the heir to the throne. looking back at what could of been..... a half-elf cleric. i used this figure for a character i created for a short time as

the Well of Lost Stars

with my D&D group's campaign came to a conclusion last weekend, i needed some thing to let the one group of characters to transfer from my campaign to a fellow group member, Jon's campaign. so i thought what i could do or even use for an easy transfer. i thought i'll use a plot device to teleport the group of heroes to where the next campaign will begin. the Well of Lost Stars. the main part of this terrain piece was part of a failed 3-d print of the Stargate, from the movie of the same name. i have another piece that was printed just not as thicker, i might make it into another Well. the band of heroes investigates the Well of Lost Stars. "what could this be?" the tricky rogue, Usagi asked curiously. to make the green substance is basically some amount of paint and Elmer's glue. i took a light shade of green and mixed it in the glue, then i filled the inside area with the mixed glue and finally added a few dots of a darker green. i ran a toothpick around

first set of wild west buildings completed. rather pleased on how these came out. i was actually kinda worried i would screw these up. instead of just putting paint straight up on the buildings, i watered down the paint so it kinda looks like a faded paint job since the environment is harsh. "three on one, odds aren't in your favor..." "that's fine, i'll see you all in hell!" i have one building i screwed up on because when i ordered it, i selected it to have the lettering of sheriff, i didn't realize there was an actual sheriff building with nicer lettering and some stars to make it unique. so i might go down to a craft store and find some small wooden letters and either do  a sheriff or something else. we'll see what i can come up with. i think my next set of buildings i'll get will be a sheriff office, bank, few stores, and possibly a hotel. when ordering buildings my OCD kicks in and make sure i get a nice assorted styles in buildings an

Death Dealer

Image
i never knew of Frank Frazetta or his artwork until i noticed his work in an art book that featured an painting that was the cover art for Molly Hatchet's third album, Flirtin' with Disaster. but anyways i've had this particular miniature for so long, i actually don't remember where i got it, or company it comes from. swarm of giant bugs surrounds the Death Dealer. i used a few painting for references so i can paint this figure close to the painting it is based off of. i put him on a 1.5mm base because i am gonna add him to my Dungeons and Dragons fantasy miniature collection. maybe sometime in the distinct future this armored warrior will come across some characters that certain play as in D&D. the Death Dealer comes face to face with a few fel-orcs.
