what dark secrets these tomes hold...

more scatter pieces for my dungeon crawls. been looking at these packs from Reaper Miniatures for some time now, and finally got a hold of them. love the gargoyle pedestal i needed a Necronomicon. can't run Lovecraft inspired games without one. i have to admit this is the main reason i bought the one pack of magical items from Reaper. all worth the price. another book opened, this one slightly bigger than the one that is on the pedestal. when inking the pages i had to draw a pentagram. this piece is of a large opened scroll with a skull and a few scrolls stacked up on the side. they were a lot of fun to paint. a few of them i glued on to a small rock and then to a base, to give it a natural feeling of it was left there to be found in an adventure by some unknowingly explorers.

the League of Thousand Sons

to coincide with my Knights of the Crescent Moon, i ordered some Gripping Beast Arab spearmen and archers plastic sprues from Ebay. i painted a few with firearms, but in the future i might go with some bows and hand weapons. i do want to create some characters. i did make up one but the miniature is not it's final model. even though there is not much to guard above ground, appearances are deceiving. ladders are used so it isn't easy to enter the area. the proxy of a character i created called the Black Scorpion. once i get the proper miniature for this character i will reuse and rename this figure. with each plastic sprue there were two hooded head options, all of the members of the League of Thousand Sons have their faces hidden. atop of the main building, statue of the mythical Manticore.

one thousand and one nights with a blue fellow

have been playing a wild west rpg with the girlfriend and her boys. and for some odd reason while adventuring down into a underground temple in the southwest of 1880's America, there was a golden lamp tucked away in a hoard of gold and treasure. so i had to order a genie miniature for her to use while we played. i did use pics of the genie from the Disney's Aladdin movie that had Robin Williams in it.she saw it for the first time during play and she fell in love with it. here are some pic featuring my objective counters and the genie. Harrison Jones comes across a golden lamp. who summons me?! the genie miniature is a Reaper Miniature. at the base of the figure that was a lamp and a skull but i didn't like it there, so i covered it all with sand and texture and paint over it. overall this miniature was a joy to paint.
