the Red Duke returns! - FFoL: Tales of Horror

Image
haven't posted a battle report of sorts for a while besides Dungeons and Dragons related. for Halloween i played some Fistful of Lead but with some FFoL: fantasy and Tales of Horror mix in. with the FFoL: fantasy rules i can mix whatever miniatures i have to create groups and also have the opportunity to customize the game way i want to play it. in this game we have a band of heroes trying to stop an evil necromancer from resurrecting any more undead. the table set-up the heroic warband consists of: Meabh, female human sorceress, Raaf the Lightbringer, male human paladin, Grungni Darkmantle, male dwarf war priest, Narfaris Cresthill, female tiefling ranger, Nog, male half ogre, and Logan Redmane, male human barbarian. the villainous  undead, the Red Duke, Viktor Hemmler, Rook, the Red Duke's acolyte, two groups of zombies, and one group of ghouls. the first roll of the game to cast a spell, needed anything but a one, and what is rolled? such a great way to start the game. the

to the temple!

another excellent adventure ran by our D&D group member Jon. this time we were making our way to freedom by doing a job for the high priest. apparently Chris's character, Pierce the bard made a deal of some sorts. Jon's pyramid made of upholstery and card. and freshly sprayed and glue. it did smell good while on the table. lol. i do need a set of scatter terrain pieces to make a jungle/forest set-up, kinda jealous how well Jon's came out. a terrible  dino lizard of sorts. still not sure where the figure is from but it does look cool on the table. making our way towards the temple in middle of the city, we became ambushed by soldiers. fellow group member Lindsey took the following pics of the table set-up from different opposite side of the table. some of the party manages to get close to the temple, and even able to scale the steps. in the foreground, a female drow sorceress approaches and lays waste to a few of those that prevented the group from advancing. i would ha

Orctober 2023...sort of

well this month was full of inspiration but lacked motivation. in between working, feeling ill and everyday life i really wanted to paint up several orcs for this year's Orctober. but i did manage to paint up an orc warlord mounted on a dire wolf. i imagined this fellow will be my leader for the warband of orcs i have and hoping to incorporate someway into my D&D campaign next year. just need to buckle down and get them painted. had this figure for several months before i decided to paint him. just didn't have a use for him at the time. painted him with a pale gray color instead of the usual green, i did have an idea having Lindsey's half-orc female fighter have some kind of ties to this orc clan i want to create, since her fighter character is also gray skin color. Rita and i were talking about new characters for D&D and i remember the Games Workshop sorceress figure i painted for her few years ago. so i redid the base so it would fit in with the rest of the D&

into the arena!!

with not doing much since my last blog post i have taking it easy lately. had a short break from miniature painting, wargaming in general and just attending D&D sessions. but this past weekend we had another nice adventure with Jon's campaign. this time as we escaped some mineral mine we ended ambushed by some natives. without going into a lengthy explanation of whats happening, i believe the natives that caught us in the jungle where we were resting are the ones who run the mineral mines. so we found ourselves in what appears to be some gladiatorial games of sorts.  Jon had built the arena and the steps where the prince sat watching us. it was really done well despite what lack of free time he had bouncing between two jobs and such. he ordered off of Etsy i think this rather impressive high priest/prince on a throne. very Aztec theme, which is always a pleasure to admire. he also got some native archers made. not sure if they were 3d printed or made with resin..or hell both fo
