Blightlords ready for battle

finally finishing up my Blightlord Terminators for my 40k Kill Team. i have to admit these were a pain in the ass at first, but once i got a groove for them it actually became a fun project.    i painted this fat bastard last because i know this was gonna be a fun paint. just seeing his bloated body busting out of his armor was gonna be neat to paint. his ranged weapon is also magnetized so i am able to switch out from his plague spewer to a combi-flamer. this miniature i was actually not anxious to do. these GW miniatures now these days are so damn detailed its intimidating.  when i went to paint the fly-parts of this miniature, i didn't want to do a traditional blackish gray fly in a way. so i went with a purplish base and then faint of red highlight. give it some character. his autocannon arm is magnetized so i am able to swap out this for his combi-bolter.

more Blightlords

was able to two more Blight Terminators completed this week and also get a game of Battlefleet Gothic in before the weekend was over. like the Champion before i gave this particular Terminator a nice dose of Nurgle's Rot paint along his hanging entrails and elsewhere. kinda messed up on the helmet eyes but then second thought they sort of look like bug eyes so i didn't really make a fuss of it. with the Nurgle's Rot i made a nice puddle of ooze on the base to make it look like he is leaking really bad.  side views of the bolter arm and plague axe arm. i only oozed up the blades of the axe and very little on the axe itself, i didn't wanna make it a total mess.  few work -in-progress pics  this fellow is my first of three Terminators with magnetized range weapon arms. this Blightlord with be armed with a Blight Launcher and then also a Combi-Plasma Gun. more to come with this project.. three dow

Blightlord Terminators WiP

so recently my loving girlfriend bought me the Dolorous Strain Kill Team box set. and at first i was kinda overwhelmed on how well these miniatures were sculpted. so much detail like the Death Guard space marines, my good friend said, "these aren't miniatures, these are models. if there is numbers on the sprue and directions these are not miniatures." and damn if he wasn't right. eight or nine pieces alone for the Blightlord Champion, back in the day Terminators had 3-4 pieces, even a character in Terminator Armor. but anyways, i went and put together the champion and primed him and went and did the same method of base coloring the miniature like i did with my Death Guard.  thinning down a green and brown paints with water, creating a wash. covering the model with a green and letting it dry and then going back over it with the brown. here are several pics of the finished Champion. after i completed the "model" i went back a

Nurgle's Rot

Image
this past weekend i bought a pot of Citadel's Nurgle Rot technical paint. been wanting to do this for some time now. i wanted some areas on the miniatures look like nasty as hell. at first i painted those areas with a really bright green, and not i went back over those areas with the Rot and it is great. Death Guard Plague Marine equipped with a Plague Cleaver. pictures show with and without the Rot paint.    at first i wasn't gonna apply it to the organic tubing and appendages but after a while i got carried away and had fun with the stuff.
