little space, big imagination

recently my D&D group was able to squeeze in a session on thanksgiving weekend and this past weekend. and through all the action and mischief that was taking place, i noticed one thing that has been a occurrence for sometime now and it's how much little i need to create an encounter for them to enjoy themselves. over time especially this year with our group we have been more role-playing than playing the game with large table set-ups.  with all the papers, books, and the DM area there isn't much room on the table to create an elaborate table display to game on. certainly if an encounter is created randomly out of the blue. like several weeks ago a group was sent to take down a raised skeletal dragon. and i wasn't even sure if we were going to get to that particular fight so i didn't make room for it, but somehow we got to it so i just put the essentials down on the table for that encounter, which was a crashed sky-boat, the adventure party, and a dragon.  and in th...

showdown in the town square...

was messing around the other day and took out the rpg maps from Arcknight and started to plot out ideas and story for my D&D group i am going to run in a few weeks. with a huge tavern and several houses of a town i have a few ideas on how i want to start everything off. i do have plans to expand the town and such by ordering some more town maps. Arcknight has a few packs to where you can really blow up it up and cover a huge table. good friend gave me few MDF wagons from 4Ground. still have to paint them, a special character i named Valkia, a warlock with very bad intentions. this little one is a Gnome Druid. i love the variety of classes and race combinations.   never would of seen a gnome druid while playing World of Warcraft as long as i did. a Firbolg Ranger a gang of rogues and assassins, who offers services to the highest bidder.

had some fun with the girlfriend and her boys once again. a street fight with the merry band of adventurers against a raiding party of Snakemen. this time around we were testing some homebrew rules i have been writing up for some time. everyone had fun. recently i purchased a bundle deal from Arcknight and used the town maps which on the under side is a graveyard. and i have to say they are nice and laminated. and to give it some feeling i had some World of Warcraft music and ambience playing off of the lady's iPad.   didn't have the proper miniatures for warband but in the group there was a dwarven hunter with a dire wolf, dwarven mage (they are brothers), human warrior, and an elvish shaman. inside the tavern there happened to be another human warrior who was seeking glory but had no brains. the raiding party of Snakemen with the coward leader behind the Snakeman with a bow. with two dwarves standing at the entrance of the tavern, the elvish shaman looks over their heads and ...
