journey to Old Hillsbrad Manor - a D&D adventure

this past week our D&D group went on their first quest to find a magic item to
relinquish a threat that has a hold on the local town. 

i didn't want to throw them a hefty encounter,
but i did make it interesting and odd at the same time.

taking a short cut through some ruins they come to find out the ruins are covered in
spider webs which made the players uneasy.

cutting through some ruins,
the group takes a shortcut to the manor to save some time before the
sun goes down.

getting ambushed by several giant spiders.

through the trees, Wynze hears some bellowing...
an overweight gluttonous troll makes its way to see what's happening. 

rolling for the troll's claw attacks, once again another amazing dice roll on my part.

Thorgrimm summons some thunder and lightning and connects his warhammer underneath
the troll's chin.

i got a plastic "hour glass" from the last convention i was at,
as a joke to Rita because i always say she takes too long deciding what to do when
it is her turn.
i shouldn't say it's an hour glass, more like a two-minute glass. lol.

since our work schedules were all conflicting we decided to play on Sunday.
which we had several hours to get through the manor.

Old Hillsbrad Manor.
using the courtyard section from the Tenfold Dungeon "the Castle" set and most of the
pieces from "the Town" set.

with the littlest planning and just basically letting the players create the story,
 this session had only one large fight.
there were moments where a few spirits made their presence known,
a snitching talking rat that had an awkward body, pretty much tried to prevent the party
from getting harmed,
and then the lord of the manor which turned out to be a wizard who tried to become a lich,
but was a failure.

the lord of the manor summons a few hellhounds to frighten the trespassers.
i used the fire breath attack on Wynze and did not know the strength of the attack.
i felt back afterwards. lol.

with such a cliffhanger that was created 4.5 hours later,
i personally cannot wait to play again.
i created some drama and turmoil within the group by being greedy and now my character
must redeem himself somehow.
so i guess we'll see how this plays out...
