Season of Scenery 2026

i came across another hobby challenge hosted by Dave over at Wargames Terran Workshop , this time around it is getting terrain built, painted, and on the table-top during the month of July. and of course here i am waiting until the last minute. waiting for bills and other real life situations to play out i finally was able to order some wild west buildings from Atomic Laser Cut Designs through Amazon. when i placed that order the estimated time arrival was going to be August 1st. but lucky me i got it on the 25th. i purchased a hotel just because i wanted to add some height to the table for my wild west table-top and a mortician shop, mainly for a scenario for Perilous Tales. the hotel was interesting to build. Atomic Laser Cut buildings do not come with instructions so with a little common sense and an open mind, i was able to get this built with some ease. for nice storage the stairs on the side of the building i decided not to glue to the actual building. i painted it in a watered d...

a little remodeling

Image
the wild western buildings i have bought from Atomic Laser Cut Designs are really nice and easy to put together but there is one thing that kind of bothered me for some time now. and that is they all pretty much look the same. besides the location of the front entrance and the way the front of the building looks, they all have the same "face." and yeah i figured it's better this way for production and easy for the company to churn out product but it's kind of bland. don't get me wrong i love these and the price is great compared to other 28mm buildings. so ever since i got my Deth Wizards figures completed i was sucked back into the wild west genre again and started watching western movies and began ramping up some loose projects i want to complete, so Rita and i can play some wild west tabletop. and after we played our last few games i looked at my buildings and wanted to remodel them and give them porches like you see in the movies. i thought about how i would r...

boomtown boomed!

few weeks ago i got around and finished the rest of my wild west buildings. i'm debating on getting a hotel or even a fairly wide building for a brothel or even another hotel building. for now though i am content on what i have so far. just need to start collecting scatter terrain such as wagons, posts, crates and stuff like that. nicely spaced and with some scatter terrain my wild west set-up is almost 4-5ft. x 3ft., which is pretty good in my opinion despite not having much money to spend with at this moment. the last six buildings that finishes my little town. i did notice some discoloration on the sign boards from when i glued the letters, but that's alright i guess. makes it look more less modern in a way. i also managed to get a few more characters done for my wild west collection. Sheriff Grayson and Charles Schultz Calvin Hobbes and William Bonney "lay down your weapons and come along peacefully, you refuse, then well i'm gonna have to shoot ya!" the sher...

boomtown is booming

first set of wild west buildings completed. rather pleased on how these came out. i was actually kinda worried i would screw these up. instead of just putting paint straight up on the buildings, i watered down the paint so it kinda looks like a faded paint job since the environment is harsh. "three on one, odds aren't in your favor..." "that's fine, i'll see you all in hell!" i have one building i screwed up on because when i ordered it, i selected it to have the lettering of sheriff, i didn't realize there was an actual sheriff building with nicer lettering and some stars to make it unique. so i might go down to a craft store and find some small wooden letters and either do  a sheriff or something else. we'll see what i can come up with. i think my next set of buildings i'll get will be a sheriff office, bank, few stores, and possibly a hotel. when ordering buildings my OCD kicks in and make sure i get a nice assorted styles in buildings an...

beginning of a boomtown

been wanting to do a wild west table for a few years now and now i'm finally getting around to do it. i ordered several buildings on Amazon from Atomic Laser Cut Designs. i reckon over time i'll get more to create a small town that will cover at least 4x4 gaming space. i was excited to share my first building i completed this evening which is a saloon. hopefully by the end of the month i'll have the rest done and a battle report or two posted. a show down outside a saloon. easy assembly even without instructions. first set of buildings i had built. i didn't know what color or how to go about painting a wild west building. so i figured my first building should be at least an easy one. i watered down some Apple Barrel acrylic paint, added some black to the and did the doorway and window frames.   same thing for the billboard, watered down some green and black for the lettering.  " you cheated me, you son of a bitch!
