Monster (May)hem 2026

several weeks ago i was reading some posts on Dave's Wargames Terrain Workshop blog page , and he was in the process of adding some terrifying Gnarloc Raiders for i assume is a Kroot army. but i noticed it was for a painting challenge that i did not know about. so i went over to Dead Dick's Tavern and checked out what this challenge was about. for the month of May, this challenge you had to paint a monstrous creature or something big. i thought this challenge would be cool, but unfortunately i didn't really have any big monsters to paint or whatnot. until i remembered i did have some things somewhere. last year i bought a terrain crate from Mantic Games called "the Haunted Manor". and in it was what they called a goliath monstrosity. which basically to me was a chunk of hard plastic in the shape of an eldritch monster of sorts. picking the color scheme for it i didn't want to go with the green i have been doing lately for these Lovecraft creatures. and what c...

the night haunters: Perilous (western) Tales

on this cloudy April day i figured i would get in a game of Perilous Tales since i got the time and nothing to do productively. in this episode the group is trying to find out why it's so quiet and still. the skies are darker than normal and whispers of winged creatures terrorizing the skies. this episode is the night haunters. ( the gargoyles in the rulebook. ) the objectives are: Recover Equipment, Get Evidence, and Rescue the Prisoner. the perils in the game are: Tempted Forward, The Captain, and Disoriented. which all were randomly generated. as usual, began the game using Eagle Eye to take a peep at some threat markers. Mr. Dennis advances towards #7 threat marker and it reveals the "The Lady" McKenzie, which is terrified as she launches herself and attacks. the following turn a parley was successful and she became part of the group. the threat marker William Loomis saw, was one of the two night haunters. i had to think of a tactic to spend the least amount of time t...

operation MotU: the Snake Men

after several months of taking a break from painting my MotU figures i was watching a few episodes of the 2002 Masters of the Universe series and i got a little inspiration to continue Operation MotU. i asked my good friend Doctor Merkury (go visit his blog page, Doctor Merkury's Lab ), which faction should i do next and he suggested Snake Men, so here we are. there were some miniatures i was sort of intimidated by painting and some i was just not fond of how they were sculpted and such. but i think they came out fairly well i tried to stick to the color schemes of either the original toys. King Hiss, in human form and snake form. Snake Face and Lady Slither. Rattlor. Fang-Or and Tung Lashor. when i went to paint Tung Lashor i tried to duplicate the markings the MotU Origins action figure has.
