lrn2play: Perilous Tales
awhile back i came across another game from Mike Hutchinson,
the author of Gaslands and other games.
this game, Perilous Tales is heavy based on the pulp genre and
the campy mystery and horror movies you would see during the 40's all the way
much into the 70's in my opinion.
as much as i love Fistful of Lead,
i was looking for a good pulp tabletop miniature game and also
i can play not only with others but also solo.
the game is still in beta play testing but the rules can be downloaded
at planet smasher games.com.
figured for my first game i would dig out my ancient mummies and
give a go and start to learn this game.
i know i made quite of errors along the way but either way it was fun.
one of the reason why i really like this game is the area needed for game play.
only really need 2x2 square area.
the Hell Hounds were dispatched to search for ancient artifacts
within the ruins of a dig site.
the Hell Hounds are consist of:
Sgt. Rock as the leader, and his teammates are
Darnell, Thomas "Tag-a-Long", "Four Eyes", and "Ice Cream".
using the Spot Hidden, to take a peek at a threat marker.
grouping up around a truck,
"Four Eyes" lets them know something is amidst up ahead.
such secrets surround the ruins.
at the time i didn't have any tokens printed out or made properly.
Darnell advances out,
Sgt. Rock makes his way towards the ruins.
coming within distance of a threat marker,
the lord himself, Imhotep makes himself known.
the mummy king use his villainous attack and take out Sgt. Rock.
all the while the threat markers advance towards the center of the table
because i was rolling badly for threat checks.
when i looked back at the character profiles i totally forgot my leader
had 12 wounds not the 3 or 4 like i thought at the time.
Darnell advances further and the High Priest is revealed.
but is also is taken out by the mummy.
Darnell becomes a victim of the High Priest.
the last survivors of the Hell Hounds takes out Imhotep with gunfire.
even though some rules were confusing or i just didn't
understand it was fun learning a new game.
i know i am gonna need more practice and playing time to
learn game mechanics and such.
overall this game is fun and can't wait to fully learn it
and play it properly.
