assortment of eldritch creatures

for sometime now i bought a few packs of core spawn crawlers from Wizkids
through their Critical Role miniature line,
but i really didn't know what color scheme i wanted to go with.
and after some time of really getting tired of looking at them unpainted,
i just threw some light brown and some green on them.

what's nice about these is that three come in a pack of different poses so i got two packs.
there is also a core spawn emissary and a core spawn seer i would love to also get
and maybe a few more crawlers to create a nightmare for my D&D group.

three different poses from one pack isn't that bad.
i have to say the poses are all nicely animated.

the ravenous brood of everything that is creepy and threatening.

little Posie Pocketfull stares down what could be just her imagination.

to expand my collection of scatter pieces for my dungeon sessions,
i purchased a box set of Mantic Games Haunted Manor plastic set.
and in this set there are several different creatures that fall under the dreadful umbrella
of eldritch horror.
this one is the first i painted and finished for possibly a scenario for Perilous Tales or maybe
just a fun and terrible run in a pulp game.

wasn't sure what color i wanted to do but with the green i used,
i did a base color and then went back and redid some areas with a darker green.

and finally i found a gug miniature of the Pathfinder miniature line from Wizkids.
i totally forgot i even had this figure and it makes it funny.
it was pre-painted but i put it on a slim 50mm base.

waiting patiently....

  1. Nice gribblies. You've got a good few encounters worth there, though your players might regret it.
I'll have to check out those Critical Role beasts (though I find the detail on Wizkids stuff a little shallow for my style of painting).

    1. Wizkids figures do tend to have horrible mold lines and little detail work and are a pain to paint, but most of the time the price is decent.

  2. Great stuff, those are some pretty interesting sculpts for Wizkids!

  3. Excellent set of creatures that could go bump in the night, the greens look great, if you want to add another level, do a purple basecoat, adds some real depth to the green did it on some orks a while back

    1. thanks, i just watched a video a few hours before reading ur comment about using a red/purple base for greens. might have to give that a try next time.

  4. Very nice work! I might have to pick up some of those Core Spawn myself. The middle beastie looks like it's probably originally from the Hellboy game - I distinctly remember the tusked, bipedal frog monster from the comics.

    1. thank you. after ur comment i was confused so i had to do some looking around and yeah that creature with the tusk is from the Hellboy game, but he was repackaged in a terrain crate box.
that's interesting. didn't realize they did that.

    2. I know Mantic repackaged quite a bit of Walking Dead material into terrain crate boxes as well. Not surprised some of the Hellboy stuff made it in. Speaking of, I've got some terrain crate stuff I should be working on at some point...
