..this horned bearded bastard...

i am not gonna lie, this model is probably going in the trash after it is defeated in
Dungeons and Dragons.
this particular figure had to be the most pain in the ass to either convert or even paint.

to give a little context this model is a Wizkids horned devil.
and this horned devil is the main villain of one of the story-arcs that we have going on in
our D&D campaign.

and to make things grand and awe inspiring i wanted this villain to be something else.

Dale's character, Wynze, a tiefling sorcerer was in possession of a deck of many things.
and after drawing a few cards, he became haunted and the catalyst of a devil's hatred.
then after some time Wynze became an owner of some land that had some what of a
stronghold which was pretty nice.

and Dale decided that was going to be the base of operations for the group.

and then not too many sessions ago, Wynze was duped into a card trick and pulled
a card that would make all other cards disappear and also his soul pulled from
his body and taking somewhere.

and i thought it would be awesome to have the devil that had so much hatred for Wynze
to be in possession of an object that holds Wynze's soul in the very place he "inherited".

now the group just needs to find him and rescue him.

first thing when i received the figure was the packaging itself made the wings of
the model curve into itself far worse than what is pictured.
which would make painting the devil torture. and i also noticed the flight
stand wasn't molded correctly to fit under the wings.

so the first thing i did was rip the wings off and replace them with something.
and by doing this i also had to drill a hole into the crotch of the devil to create a
better flight stand.

after i ripped off the wings i couldn't find anything large enough to match the size of the
original wings.
i did find some old 40k 2nd edition tyranid gargoyle miniatures so i used the wing bit
off those.
they were smaller but it'll work.

adding the wings i had to use some green stuff which i am still learning how to use properly.

once i had the devil all ready to paint, instead of using black i went with a white primer
and then was gonna use watered down red paint and then build up on some shades but the
white primer had some of a little sheen to it.
this made the paint run off and not stick.

which at this point i was done with this model.

so i pressed on and got the paint on and after i got all of it on and done,
i went over it with good 'ol Nuln Oil.

i don't think i ever suffered a headache this bad with a model before as i did with this one.

as i was painting the horned devil i did find a tiny demon figure in a bits box.
i do not know where this little fellow came from but i painted him up quickly and maybe he'll
make it into a D&D adventure sometime down the road.

"wretched little monster! die you demon!!!"
