a few assorted miniatures for pulp and D&D

while i was working on the bearded devil miniature,
i was also painting miniatures in batches.
i guess i was doing this to keep my sanity in check and also from feeling overwhelmed.
i recently got several miniatures for Dungeons and Dragons and some for Perilous Tales.
and what is nice about some of these figures i got specifically for Perilous Tales,
i can use them in D&D also.
so that is a win-win.

here of late i've been having this ambitious idea of creating a character for each class in
Dungeons and Dragons.
not including the npc's i have created for story-lines, i mean actual leveled characters.
several weeks back i got a Wizkids Frameworks orc barbarian.
when i went to assemble him i decided to arm him with a great sword.
still haven't picked a sub-class for him,
i might go with something that fits the racial traits of being an orc.

originally i was going to add him to the Red Fangs orc tribe i created back in 2024.

i painted this barbarian just like those before but he came out too cool and decided to use him
as a barbarian character.
in his left hand he had an axe but i clipped it off because i wanted him to just have this
two-handed sword.
i think he just looks way cooler like this.

purchased some vine blights from Next Level Miniatures for a scenario for another
installment of my western Perilous Tales.

i painted them with a mixture of greens and browns,
i just didn't want them to look like bland walking plants.
i guess they came out alright, i didn't want to spend a whole lot of time on details.
just paint and be done.

i needed some plants for a scenario and didn't know what to use.
needed something that looked like a seed pod of some sort.
the only thing i had on hand were some of the foliage figures from the CMON
Clash of Eternia board game.

was gonna cut them down to just the pod of the plant but i decided against it because
i just wanted to get them painted.
i wanted them to look menacing and angry so i picked colors that remind me of like
poisonous plants or even amphibians.

finishing up another batch of figures and hopefully i can squeeze in a game of
Perilous Tales before i get deeper into D&D miniature painting.
our group's story is getting deep so that means more characters in turn, more painting.

i am not gonna lie, this model is probably going in the trash after it is defeated in Dungeons and Dragons. this particular figure had to be the most pain in the ass to either convert or even paint. to give a little context this model is a Wizkids horned devil. and this horned devil is the main villain of one of the story-arcs that we have going on in our D&D campaign. and to make things grand and awe inspiring i wanted this villain to be something else. Dale's character, Wynze, a tiefling sorcerer was in possession of a deck of many things. and after drawing a few cards, he became haunted and the catalyst of a devil's hatred. then after some time Wynze became an owner of some land that had some what of a stronghold which was pretty nice. and Dale decided that was going to be the base of operations for the group. and then not too many sessions ago, Wynze was duped into a card trick and pulled a card that would make all other cards disappear and also his soul pulled from his...

legion of undead

still plugging away at the mess of undead miniatures i still have. these skeletons are from the Undead Encounter pack from Mantic Games. i went with a simple color scheme, i didn't want to spend a lot of time on them. the so called leader of the group. with the simple color and shading these came out nicely. i might go back and retouch the eyes, maybe add a green glow or redness in the eye sockets. rest of the group. way these came out i might purchase another pack of these, add more to the more ranks. Beholder Zombie. this fellow was fun to paint. cannot wait to unleash this on my D&D group. five year anniversary

this month i get to celebrate five years of the safe hole. a blog i created with the idea of being able to share with others that didn't understand when i mention the words "wargaming" or "tabletop gaming", or even when i ask a manager at work if i can have the disposed packing foam or discarded cardboard for terrain making. then i'm able to show them what i do with blog pics and posts. but i also ask myself why bother keeping a blog. and a friend said to me it's a showcase of how i progressed over time and see how things evolved and improve. over the years on the blog you can see i went through phases of gaming which is funny to read and watch. chatting with my friend Doctor Merkury about the idea of creating a blog, i couldn't think of a cool name for it. so of course we were spit-balling dumb names and on a some what of a dare and name it the safe hole, i really thought "meh, why not." i didn't think it was gonna last this long.
