a whole bunch of nothingness

 i spent all of the month of June not doing anything. i hardly painted anything maybe a few D&D miniatures but nothing excited to post about. despite a few D&D sessions, i didn't do any gaming of any type. about a month or so ago i was given a new work schedule and now have been working morning/daytime shifts and when i come home i don't want to move. so any aspirations of wargaming were non-existent in the last 30+ days. but during this "time off" from the hobby i did do some reading and watching videos on Youtube of other tabletop games and such. was reading some MotU comics online and got some inspiration to create another faction for my Masters of the Universe collection. i looked around and did some reading and got myself a few sets of the MotU Battleground board game from Archon Studio to build me a Preternia heroic faction. with some reading and looking around the internet i mapped out what i want to do. with what i have on hand at the moment the Preter...

several months ago i purchased a few wild west gaming items and when i got this idea to create a western theme Perilous Tales campaign i needed something that would resemble the Whateley family from the lore of H.P. Lovecraft. i was not sure where to find such an obscure collection of figures, especially for a western theme but i looked high and low. i looked at other game systems and found that Dracula's America had a great selection of horror themed miniatures that i wasn't even aware of. so i got the box set of the Church of Dagon miniatures, which basically screams Lovecraft in the name. after looking over what the set had i knew this was perfect for what i needed for Perilous Tales. the old father, the mysterious daughter, the deformed son, and even some not so well looking fellows. all i needed was the "Dunwich Horror" but i had a spare alien figure from my discarded Zombicide Invaders board game. several of the followers of Old Whateley. Monster (May)hem 2026

several weeks ago i was reading some posts on Dave's Wargames Terrain Workshop blog page , and he was in the process of adding some terrifying Gnarloc Raiders for i assume is a Kroot army. but i noticed it was for a painting challenge that i did not know about. so i went over to Dead Dick's Tavern and checked out what this challenge was about. for the month of May, this challenge you had to paint a monstrous creature or something big. i thought this challenge would be cool, but unfortunately i didn't really have any big monsters to paint or whatnot. until i remembered i did have some things somewhere. last year i bought a terrain crate from Mantic Games called "the Haunted Manor". and in it was what they called a goliath monstrosity. which basically to me was a chunk of hard plastic in the shape of an eldritch monster of sorts. picking the color scheme for it i didn't want to go with the green i have been doing lately for these Lovecraft creatures. and what c...
