some outlaws and a loving tribute

Image
past few days while on vacation i finished up several more miniatures for my wild west collection and got my first set of buildings done also. hopefully next month i can get several more. Wolfe, "old man" Rusty, and Jesse. Clint, Deputy Virgil, and Connie. so i wanted to do something special for Rita and paint up a couple to represent her parents. for her father i took a rugged male figure i had and armed with a rifle with a overcoat draped over his shoulders like Doc Holliday. for her mother i used a female figure that was proper and elegant and not armed with much weapons despite these miniatures did come from a zombie killing game. i asked Rita what colors she would want her mother's dress and she requested a yellow, being that was her favorite color. i painted the scarf that was wrapped around the female's body a navy blue, to represent the Rita's love for her mom. i never got to meet her mother because she past away in 2006 from cancer, but i hear she was a g...

D&D campaign two conclusion

Image
this past weekend our D&D group had their campaign finale and it was balls out fun! during this campaign i didn't pull punches when it came to creating story lines. i was given stern looks for the most part. but in the end everyone had an understanding on why things went the way it did. halfway through the campaign i let the players also pick a secondary character they would be interested in playing also. so at one point we would have one group of characters investigating a creepy manor for a certain npc, there would be another group discovering the plot on why the king was kidnapped. sometimes i would bend the rules to make some story arcs work out, but i tried my best to have it make sense in the end. for the finale i had written out several ideas and in the end i decided on having the game session broken up into two acts. all the photos were taking by my wonderful girlfriend, Rita. act one was the group finding the evil tiefling necromancer that had Breena, murdered for the ...

Orcus, the Blood Lord

Image
for sometime now i have been debating how what to do for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign finale as far as the main boss. and the Wand of Orcus has been the somewhat center piece of what would become problems for our D&D group for good part of a year now. and since i like to keep all my D&D miniatures and models exclusively Wizkids, i was going back and worth on actually getting an Orcus figure. but couldn't seeing myself spending $70+ for a figure that i will probably only use once or twice. i went to Etsy.com to see what i could fine, and i came across a vendor called BunionsandCabbage. and they had a very nice looking Orcus. so i took a chance on them and ordered one. this was the very first time i ordered a 3-d printed item on Etsy. click here to check out BunionsandCabbage's page on Etsy.com the Demon Prince of Undeath i didn't know if i wanted to paint this fellow like i did with all my other Wizkids figures, or do the slapchop method like i've been doin...

more miscellaneous characters for D&D

Image
took a break from painting the wild west miniatures and the buildings i recently got, i spent the day finishing up some D&D miniatures for this weekend's campaign finale. since reading about the spellcasters of Thay in the D&D books, i was always intrigued and wanted a small coven of wizards based off of them. kept with the theme of red robes of sorts and using what would look like evil looking miniatures, i picked a tiefling sorcerer to be my leader and also the main villain of my campaign. most likely i'll add more to this group as time goes on. the miniature i used was a Wizkids Frameworks miniature. a little pricey but they look nice once built and painted. confronting a spirit of an equally venomous wizard, the archmage leads the group of necromancers into a battle of wits with the flameskull. a death knight from Wizkids. finally found a leader for all my skeletons. i almost want to get another set of skeletons just to create a fairly size horde of bones and weapo...

beginning of a boomtown

Image
been wanting to do a wild west table for a few years now and now i'm finally getting around to do it. i ordered several buildings on Amazon from Atomic Laser Cut Designs. i reckon over time i'll get more to create a small town that will cover at least 4x4 gaming space. i was excited to share my first building i completed this evening which is a saloon. hopefully by the end of the month i'll have the rest done and a battle report or two posted. a show down outside a saloon. easy assembly even without instructions. first set of buildings i had built. i didn't know what color or how to go about painting a wild west building. so i figured my first building should be at least an easy one. i watered down some Apple Barrel acrylic paint, added some black to the and did the doorway and window frames.   same thing for the billboard, watered down some green and black for the lettering.  " you cheated me, you son of a bitch! "

further into the Wild West

Image
continuing painting the CMON Zombicide: Undead and Alive miniatures. this time around i got a few females done and started planning gangs for what maybe will be a campaign using the Wiley Games Fistful of Lead: Reloaded. i did manage to get some buildings ordered so hopefully by the time of writing this i will have them next week and built and painted by the end of the month. but in the meantime i'm just gonna keep cranking out painted mini's. few outlaws getting ready to open up what could be a nice payday.   some ladies of the Wild West, Molly, Lilith, and Hanna. underneath some earth and peeling from the sunlight some ghouls that has crossed paths with several gunslingers. eventually once i get my Cowboys vs. Aliens idea on the table, i want to do some supernatural themes like walking undead or werewolves. ideas along those lines especially when Halloween comes around. Mr. Eastwood and Earl. disagreements and tempers flare. more to come..

misc. characters for D&D (updated)

Image
just some more Dungeons and Dragons miniatures that got painted and finished for a recent session our group had last weekend. there were a few characters/creatures i couldn't find under the Wizkids Unpainted Miniatures line, so i went and got the prepainted ones and added some shading or some color here and there to least make them look like their painted so they'll fit in with the rest of the collection i have. Tortle Monk. i have been thinking of a tortle character for some time but couldn't find an unpainted one. so i got this one painted with some light brown drybrush, used Citadel Golgfag Brown drybrush paint for the skin. redid his bead necklace and added a black wash. ( edit: after trying to straightening out the staff the tortle originally had several times and failing, i ended up clipping it and drilling a hole through his hand. inserting a spear from a skeleton sprue i had left over and then added a bit on the end for the head of the staff, creating a new staff. ...
