hobbyist declaration 2025

after reading a fellow blogger Bill over on  Dice, Doubloons, and Random Musings on future plans and goals for the new year, i thought to myself i should also set a goal checklist of such to get myself on track. i have so many cool ideas for future projects that never come to light, projects that are already started, and projects that are half completed and get dragged on left behind. i haven't posted many battle reports in the last few months because i was involved in painting more of my D&D miniatures and trying to get my MotU figures done as soon as possible. so i would like to get more gaming in and post more battle reports in even if they are solo's since time with Rita and i are limited at the moment. with the lack of spare space in my apartment i can only play so much. with that in mind i want to get a few more 3'x3' framed painting canvas for smaller games so i can use the spare table space for dice and books. get one for a green grass/forest environment an...

operation MotU: wave 6

Image
wave six is the last group of miniatures of the Heroic and Evil Warriors. along with this wave of figures i also completed another group of Eternian Guards and the Eternian Royal Family. even though Prince Adam was part of wave 3 in 1984 and King Randor in wave 6 in 1986, Queen Marlena did not have an action figure during the original toyline. so i decided to group all three here. i do have a Cringer i could paint but i am not fond of the figure, so for the time being i'm just going to set the figure aside. wave six consists of Clamp Champ, King Randor, Queen Marlena, Prince Adam, another group of Eternian Guards, Sorceress, Blast Attak, Ninjor, and Scareglow. Heroic Warriors. Clamp Champ. King Randor, Queen Marlena, and Prince Adam. Sorceress. i have to admit i was not happy with how this figure was coming out. i hate painting with white. Eternian Guards. i took some of the pieces of rock terrain from the Battle of Eternia boardgame and based them and painted them so they can repr...

operation MotU: wave 5

Image
this wave i don't have much happening. i have been painting miniatures in order of original release starting back in 1981. i don't have a miniature for every character that was made. even though during the original toy runs of the MotU action figures they were releasing She-Ra related figures and also Snake Men alongside the MotU, i'm planning on painting them as whole faction groups. in wave five, i have mainly Heroic Warriors which consists of Extendar, Stonedar, Snout Sprout, Rokkon and the rest of the Hover Robots. Heroic Warriors. Extendar. Rokkon. Snout Sprout. Stonedar. and the Hover Robots. Fisto raises his steel gauntlet into the air and exclaims, "more the merrier!"

operation MotU: wave 4

continuing with the Masters of the Universe figures from CMON with wave three. wave four consists of Roboto, Moss Man, Stinkor, Two Bad, and Spikor. for a change of pace i ended up painting a few eternian guards since i have a decent amount of them and they were not part of the original toy-line. in the CMON Battle for Eternia set it came with a He-Man carrying an axe and shield so i decided to paint him as an Anti He-Man. the set also came with a Teela in snake themed armor and i decided to paint her as an Eternian Goddess. Heroic Warriors. Roboto. Moss Man. Eternian Guards. Eternian Goddess. cornered like rats!! Evil Warriors. Stinkor. Two Bad. Spikor. Anti He-Man. more to come....

cultists and some sneaky gnomes

Image
to be honest i have not done much since last month. kind of took a gaming break overall, from painting, gaming and even touching a figure. after the last batch of MotU figures and trying to get another unit done for Silver Bayonet done, i was losing my enthusiasm for it. so i'm doing little things here and there. getting some figures' bases redone or small D&D characters done for adventures, but large projects are starting to overwhelm me. i guess my age is creeping up on me faster than i thought.  back in may of last year i purchased several plastic sprues of Frostgrave cultists and assembled them but didn't do anything with them for a while. i ended up painting them a few weeks ago for some encounters for our D&D group. i separated the characters who are armed with a certain style of blades from the others and gave them small shields. i also glued heads with exposed faces or masks on these particular figures compared to the rest i made. some armed with crossbows a...

fear of the unknown

recently the new "seasons" of Cthulhu: Death May Die board games came out and i was screaming like a girl at a boy band concert. making sure all my bills are paid and i was even able to drop some green on these. i have been watching when these were coming out ever since it's kickstarter was announced back around the end of 2022 beginning of 2023..ish. season three is pretty much a revamped core set with everything new. scenarios, monsters, more investigators, and even elder ones, which i was excited about. unlike season two expansion, season four comes with one elder one, Nyarlathotep! and stupid me is thinking in the tiniest part in my head of purchasing all four boxes again to have another set of figures to paint for some table-top pulp wargames or even monsters to use in D&D. before i even think about it, i need to get ALL of my MotU miniatures painted, based, and completed. the new rulebook explains several things in a clearer sense than the original one, which is...
