ever since late summer/early fall of last year i never knew a trip to my local gaming store would have the CMON Battle of Eternia board game plus some Kickstarter bonuses. i took a week to go over financial stuff and think about what i was about to do. one week later i went all in and bought only what i truly wanted. now to be honest i only wanted this stuff for the miniatures even though i already had a small collection, what bothered me was some were not scaled properly with the others and just didn't look right on the table. so i was able to get hold of the core game, the exclusive box Box of Power, and the three extra factions. like with all my fantasy miniatures and what i am in the process of doing with my pulp figures, i want to put these guys on 1.5mm bases. hopefully i can clip the larger figures and get them to fit on 60mm bases and for all regular ones put them on 32mm. with all the major faction leaders, there are foot and mounted versions of them, but also unmounted mo...

more miscellaneous miniatures for D&D

just some pictures of some more interesting creatures and characters i was able to get on the table for another successful D&D adventure last weekend. some heroes battle a hill giant. ever come across a figure you weren't looking for in particular but a light bulb went off in your head and all of a sudden you needed one. i was looking for a giant figure and then saw this fellow. a prepainted hill giant from Wizkids. he's not very large compare to other giants so in my head i figured this fellow could be a hill giant that has a strength of hundred men, but the mentality of a five year old. another figure to add to my evil wizards collection i currently have going on. this miniature is another from Next Level Miniatures. "I have taken notice that the elf is still alive, so once again you have failed us." painted this goblin mage with the traditional green skin and also a Next Level Miniature. needed some desert animals, i found some toy elephants at my local Wal-Ma...

five year anniversary

this month i get to celebrate five years of the safe hole. a blog i created with the idea of being able to share with others that didn't understand when i mention the words "wargaming" or "tabletop gaming", or even when i ask a manager at work if i can have the disposed packing foam or discarded cardboard for terrain making. then i'm able to show them what i do with blog pics and posts. but i also ask myself why bother keeping a blog. and a friend said to me it's a showcase of how i progressed over time and see how things evolved and improve. over the years on the blog you can see i went through phases of gaming which is funny to read and watch. chatting with my friend Doctor Merkury about the idea of creating a blog, i couldn't think of a cool name for it. so of course we were spit-balling dumb names and on a some what of a dare and name it the safe hole, i really thought "meh, why not." i didn't think it was gonna last this long. (for...
