a few weeks back, a complete and published version of Perilous Tales and i was so excited and couldn't wait to play it. for an idea i thought since i am half way through redoing the bases of my pulp figures i took out some of my WW2 germans from Bob Murch and created a group for the game. i've been reading quite a bit of pulp stories that are influenced by the Ahnenerbe. and what better game to play out such adventures than Perilous Tale! i had the canvas out from back when i played Sword Weirdos and just never cleaned it up so i added a few more pieces of ruins. layout of the table. being on the 2'x3' canvas, only 2'x2' was the actual playing area. the investigating squad led by Scharführer Ludwig. the episode was the Ghast. within the ruins is a wretched ghast, several spirits and a crazed fellow soldier. the objectives are: Kill the Master, Hunt the Fiends, and Leave No Stone Unturned the perils in the game are: Mired, Tempted Forever, and The Captain advanc...

lrn2play: Sword Weirdos

recently i have been checking out some small skirmish games and came across one called Sword Weirdos. i watched a few videos of it on YouTube and i figured it only cost $5 so i gave it a go. i really like the fact i can make warbands with my assorted D&D miniatures. and along with it's unusual rules of movement and combat i'm really taking a liking into. since Rita is unfortunately working this christmas eve, i went and built myself a small battlefield using the 2'x3' canvas and throwing some ruins and trees all around.  layout of the gaming area. i used the optional solo rules to learn the rules. i did have to rethink some of the rules because the actual game rules kind of contradicted the solo rules in a way, but it all worked out in the end. i created a group of heroic adventurers using the figures of the characters from our D&D group. Sindarus the Shadowpaw, Breena, Emily Scarlett, Roshakuna and Nanna. the followers of the evil Nathaniel Marris, the necroma...

after reading a fellow blogger Bill over on  Dice, Doubloons, and Random Musings on future plans and goals for the new year, i thought to myself i should also set a goal checklist of such to get myself on track. i have so many cool ideas for future projects that never come to light, projects that are already started, and projects that are half completed and get dragged on left behind. i haven't posted many battle reports in the last few months because i was involved in painting more of my D&D miniatures and trying to get my MotU figures done as soon as possible. so i would like to get more gaming in and post more battle reports in even if they are solo's since time with Rita and i are limited at the moment. with the lack of spare space in my apartment i can only play so much. with that in mind i want to get a few more 3'x3' framed painting canvas for smaller games so i can use the spare table space for dice and books. get one for a green grass/forest environment an...
