Paint What You Got challenge 2026

after several weeks of freezing weather, crap work schedules and finally feeling a little
bit better, i got what i could get done for the PWYG challenge.
i do feel like i should have done more but real life took over.
some time i will eventually get my last two MotU factions painted, but don't hold your
breathe on it.

towards the end of February i found a new game called Deth Wizards, which totally changed
my decision on what to paint because i bought two boxes of Frostgrave miniatures.
one box of soldiers and one of culstists.
i did do a bit of kitbashing between the plastic sets.


the female wizard on the left i want to use as a new necromancer for a new horde
for Deth Wizards.
she is from the Wildspire Miniature line.
i clipped the top of her staff and added a scythe blade from a classic warhammer skeleton
plastic sprue.
the fellow on the right is an old metal figure that i am not sure about the manufacturer.


some thieves and rogues from the Frostgrave cultist box set.


a few rangers built from the Frostgrave soldier box set.


a group of villagers made from bodies from the cultist box set and heads/arms from the
soldiers box set.


a lonesome orc hunter from Wildspire Miniatures.

i guess this wasn't a failed challenge since i didn't paint any MotU but i did get other things
done like prepping more Wildspire miniatures for painting and possibly adding more cultists
for Dungeons and Dragons.

this would be the first time i am playing a scenario out of the Galactic Heroes rulebook, instead of screwing around and just doing a massive sweep and clear game hat takes forever to finish. for this scenario the heroes have to search for a droid that has a second part of schematics that are needed. instead their own droid is the one half so their mission is to find the other half. but not far behind is a small band hired guns to hunt down the heroes of the Republic. in additional of using the awesome game tokens from Wiley Games, (which can be found at this link here, wiley-games.myshopify.com ..nothing wrong of a cheap promotion). i also used small clear glass beads for activated units. the layout of the table. the scattered droids within the port. the ship that is waiting for the cargo. the heroes of the Republic: Nas Nhanu, leader w/ R3-D7 Ba Skurpau, crew specialist/technician Lothic Druss, Cronzo Red, and Gorr, crew members   Huth Vor, Viss Emnek, and Jubar Tharno, grunt mem...

the Undead..

finally coming to the end of this epic project for a good friend, the undead plastic from Mantic Games was really fun to do. i actually want to get a box or two for myself. these were painted with about 50/50 Apple Barrel acrylics and Citadel paints. ghouls zombies lonely skeleton in his grave and his pet created monster, from North Star Military Figures. skeleton infantry.

muck people

continuing painting some more from the Mantic Games Haunted Manor box set, these minions i figure are supposed to be the deep ones from H.P. Lovecraft's stories. but since they lack the fish characteristics i call them the muck people. and not too long ago i found out that these figures are from the Hellboy board game, so i might look on eBay for a few more to add to the group. i had my next Perilous Tales scenario figured out and sorted but in my head it didn't fit with the theme that i had started. so i pulled these out, painted them quickly and got them table-readied for the next installment of my western themed Perilous Tales. i didn't know how i was gonna use these originally for Dungeons and Dragons, but for a modern pulp or even a wild west, these would work nicely. as i am writing this post, i am definitely thinking of getting a few more for other table-top games i enjoy playing. the one muck man who seems like they are wearing pants i didn't feel like that is  ...
