throwback: Bloodthirster of Khorne

way back in second edition of Warhammer 40,000
when i was starting to get into Chaos space marines i had a friend who gave me
several of his older miniatures.

and one of these was a classic Bloodthirster miniature.
back then i did not know there were several different head, body, or weapon options when it came to this miniature.
but one thing was for sure,
the wing piece was a pain to keep glued to the body.


i remember the one i only ever had,
it was consisted of the head#3, body #1, axe #3 and whip #3.


at the same time as i was building the Great Unclean One,
i was piecing this fellow together.
i wanted to take a pic of the packaging because i thought it was funny how such a great miniature was packaged and compare to the daemon models these days,
but i forgot to.


assembled and ready for prime and paint.
damn those wings.




quick paint job, nothing special.
black armor and drybrushed with burnished gold.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!

      thanks man, i really enjoy the older models. so simplistic and solid.
      the new stuff looks great but too big and over the top in a way.

 so begins a great adventure.... when i bought the CMON Masters of the Universe board game i knew what i was getting myself into. but over time i didn't realize what kind of pile of shame i would have. so i thought instead of being overwhelmed with what i should paint first, i thought i'll paint what the original toy-line was back in the '80's starting with wave 1. wave 1 consists of He-Man, Man-at-Arms, Teela, Stratos, Battle Cat, Skeletor, Mer-Man, Beast Man, and Zodac.  i painted them like the original cartoon or close enough to it. operation MotU: wave 2

  continuing with the Masters of the Universe figures from CMON with wave two. wave two consists of Man-E-Faces, Ram Man, Evil-Lyn, Faker, Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops, Panthor. for a change of pace i ended up painting a few hover robots since i have a decent amount of them and they were not part of the original toy-line. Heroic Warriors Man-E-Faces is a member of the Heroic Warriors, notable by his distinctive appearance, with his large, blue metal head on which his faces appear in its screen-like opening. His ability is to change his face from his regular human face to that of a robot and a monster. Ram Man is a member of the Heroic Warriors, characterized by his bulky, spring-legged appearance and flat-topped metal helmet. four foot of raging fury!!

my girlfriend Rita told me the other week that her youngest son joined a D&D school club and we needed to write up a character sheet. we sat and picked a race/class and her youngest Sam picked of all things, gnome barbarian named Hamish. we rolled for stats and filled out all the slots and information for him to play his first legit D&D game. so a week later we were told the person who's running the D&D club is starting the characters at level 3, why i have no idea, you figured new players would start at level 1? so we "leveled up" Sam's character and we played out a small session to get Sam familiar with the basic rules.
