into the arena!!

with not doing much since my last blog post i have taking it easy lately.
had a short break from miniature painting, wargaming in general and just
attending D&D sessions.

but this past weekend we had another nice adventure with Jon's campaign.
this time as we escaped some mineral mine we ended ambushed by some natives.
without going into a lengthy explanation of whats happening,
i believe the natives that caught us in the jungle where we were resting are
the ones who run the mineral mines.

so we found ourselves in what appears to be some gladiatorial games of sorts.

Jon had built the arena and the steps where the prince sat watching us.
it was really done well despite what lack of free time he had bouncing between
two jobs and such.

he ordered off of Etsy i think this rather impressive high priest/prince on a throne.
very Aztec theme, which is always a pleasure to admire.

he also got some native archers made.
not sure if they were 3d printed or made with resin..or hell both for all i know.
the way they felt it reminded me of TT Combat figures, without the waxy film on them.
and because of time restraint he only had so many painted,
which i did bust his balls about bringing unpainted figures to my gaming table,
such blasphemy!!

as the session continued,
we realized we were to fight other fighters with what weapons were available in the arena,
here we have Chris's human bard, Pierce about to fight two orcs.

Lindsey had her dragonborn druid, Vervada facing off with three hobgoblins.

my tortle monk, Quirog had to face four bugbears,
and it took all i had to take them all down despite bad dice rolls for myself and
good timing with bad dice rolls from the bugbears.

as i am sitting here writing this i totally forgot to take a pic of what Rita had to fight.
her harengon rogue, Usagi had to fight three kobolds.

with everyone successful in their battles,
the high prince ordered three of us to fight a stone giant.

with no rest Quirog (not in picture), Pierce and Jon's human rogue, Autolycus had to
face this giant, but it was the human bard who polymorph'd the stone giant into a cow...

and then a melee battle erupted among the characters.
with a whisper Quirog muttered something to Pierce and the bard took a rusty
shortsword and ended the life of the tortle monk.

overall even though my character is dead, i do have some what of a backstory
i can play out during this campaign and maybe create an additional story arc for my
next campaign next year.

  1. Always a pleasure to see your stuff, and the terrain is great.
It sounds like a very exciting session. All my roleplaying is online at the moment, so I miss pushing minis around.

    1. this campaign is coming along very well. to be honest I couldn't play online, I need the tabletop layout and figures, dice to throw around, the old school feeling of role-playing.

    2. Face to face is far preferable, but with players scattered around the country we have no choice.

    3. with players from all parts of the country I can understand, but these virtual tabletops..I couldn't with friends around a table I just couldn't. I need to feel miniatures and terrain.
