3mm to 1.5mm

 for some time now i have been debating on swapping out the 3mm MDF bases
for thin 1.5mm plastic bases since i am starting to collect quite a bit of
figures that can be used between my fantasy and pulp collections.

 

and since i have been playing with my fantasy stuff a lot more because of
Dungeons and Dragons i decided to begin the process of changing the bases.

i figured i would start with my mummies since they might make an appearance in
my upcoming campaign next year.
 
the world is not big enough for two "gods."

 i was gonna get duplicates and just put them on the 1.5 bases but do a different
color scheme but i was really happy how these came out,
so i just had to redo them.
 

after some time i actually couldn't find my rat swarms.
but once i started converting the bases over,
i found them in figure case tucked away.


i was gonna buy all new mummy figures  and base them with the 1.5mm,
but when i went back to look on Reaper Miniatures' website,
apparently they don't sell the 9 pack mummies anymore.
so because of that alone is the driving force behind this whole project.

 i wont repost all my pulp figures with the new bases,
just wanted to show these again because these are my favorite pieces
from my pulp collection.

cultists and some sneaky gnomes

to be honest i have not done much since last month. kind of took a gaming break overall, from painting, gaming and even touching a figure. after the last batch of MotU figures and trying to get another unit done for Silver Bayonet done, i was losing my enthusiasm for it. so i'm doing little things here and there. getting some figures' bases redone or small D&D characters done for adventures, but large projects are starting to overwhelm me. i guess my age is creeping up on me faster than i thought.  back in may of last year i purchased several plastic sprues of Frostgrave cultists and assembled them but didn't do anything with them for a while. i ended up painting them a few weeks ago for some encounters for our D&D group. i separated the characters who are armed with a certain style of blades from the others and gave them small shields. i also glued heads with exposed faces or masks on these particular figures compared to the rest i made. some armed with crossbows a

four foot of raging fury!!

my girlfriend Rita told me the other week that her youngest son joined a D&D school club and we needed to write up a character sheet. we sat and picked a race/class and her youngest Sam picked of all things, gnome barbarian named Hamish. we rolled for stats and filled out all the slots and information for him to play his first legit D&D game. so a week later we were told the person who's running the D&D club is starting the characters at level 3, why i have no idea, you figured new players would start at level 1? so we "leveled up" Sam's character and we played out a small session to get Sam familiar with the basic rules. Knights of Kirin

after i painted my orc warbands for the ORCtober challenge, i pulled together a miscellaneous group of villainous proportion. i had this group painted for a few months, but only now came around to take pics and post them on here. and i figure since i am going through a fantasy themed moment might as well post now. i wanted this group a very mix of characters and races, and what can to be was a group of humans, beastmen, and an orc. Knights of Kirin. Mordek has hired some muscle to aid him in finding the mythical Wyrmrest Blade. some say it is lost forever in time, but forbidden texts reads that a powerful wizard knows the whereabouts of it. a seer of the dark magik, Kirin Tenebris. Malagor, a beastman banished from his tribe. Brak, orc mercenary of the Bad Moon clan Wulfrik, a Chaos champion. Roshakuna, a minotaur who is in service to Kirin Tenebris and also disliked by Malagor.
