the cursed Ozomatli: perilous (western) tales

i had so much fun few days ago playing Perilous Tales i swapped out terrain pieces and
set up a new game.
i also updated the roster sheet with new experience points, traits, and skill points for a
new game eager to play.
love how it only takes one good idea to invigorate the interest of playing solo games again
with little time i have to spare with work and all.

the episode is the cursed Ozomatli.
(the Mummy from the rulebook.)
the group has come across some ruins of some sort of temple or point of worship of
a bygone civilization and is rumored to have some precious artifacts to be had.

the objectives are: Kill the Master, Destroy the Idol, and Get Evidence.
the perils in the game are: Unsteady Underfoot, Utterly Horrible, Earthquake,
which all were randomly generated.

the group spreads out and gets a visual of what is what.

like usual using William Loomis' Eagle Eye trait to take a peek at some threat markers.
knowing what threat markers are i starting to reveal them and begin clearing a way to the
idol to destroy it.

a grisly follower of Ozomatli appears.

"what in the name of god is that?!" Abraham Puckett shouted.

Rita Lynn found a grisly follower also and took it out but was spooked and failed a
horror check and fled away.

the high priest Montezuma is revealed next to the idol.

the high priest raises his bloodied fist, "estli uikpa in esteotl!"

with some of the best dice rolls i have ever rolled i am cleaning house!

i have to admit, without thought i made my leader of this rag-tag group a fierce melee
fighter with such a bonus towards his melee dice rolls.
thought for sure the high priest was going to be a struggle to take out,
but i was wrong.

with basically two threat markers left one of them is the master villain,
but the threat level is at 6 out of 10 and once i start attacking the idol the threat level
will increase up to 8/10.

once the threat level hits 10 the game is over.

half the group begins to attack the idol and while that is happening a grisly follower appears.
which leads now to only one threat marker left.

at this point the threat level is at 9/10 and yet i still have to reveal the master villain which
will add another 2 to the threat level.
so at this moment i just ended the game and began adding up experience points and such.

i am sort of sad i was not able to have the master villain the cursed Ozomatli to appear,
i think that fight would have been entertaining.

with the group's second episode in the books i feel like i did ok.
i didn't plan on the increased threat once i attacked the idol but overall i got one
objective completed.
with all the points calculated i scored a C grade,
which i can live with.

until next time....💀

  1. Looks like a good game, even without Ozomatli's appearance!

  2. That looks great fun. 'Westernising' the game seems to work very well, and it all looks wonderful.

    1. thank you. the most fun I have is to convert the scenario from the book into a western scene.

  3. Another fun adventure to read, shame about the big boss not turning up, but the threat level escalated too quick for that. Still loving the Wild West vibes to the game, adds a different flavor to the games.

    1. haha. the wild west setting does add a little bit more adventure to it than the usual urban pulp does. i think anyways.
