the thing in the town: perilous (western) tales

awhile back i had an idea of playing Perilous Tales but instead of 1930's pulp,
play the game in a western setting.
taking the villain scenarios and reverting them to a wild west feel was the fun part,
like instead of the mad scientist and his monster i thought of a crazed undertaker
and his undead.

with this scenario instead of remaking scenes from the movie The Thing,
i took the same idea but just placed it in a western.

but with this great idea of doing Perilous Tales in the wild west setting,
i figured i'll run a campaign serial out of it all.

the Dennis family (Mrs. and Mr. Dennis, and Rita Lynn), Abraham Puckett,
and William Loomis.

the episode is the Thing in the town.
(the Thing in the Ice from the rulebook.)
some strange things have taken place in town recently, and Mr. Jenkins from
the hardware store has been acting pretty weird also.

the objectives are: Leave No Stone Unturned, Recover Equipment, and Set the Explosives.
the perils in the game are: Disaster Strikes, Tempted Forward, and The Captain.
which all were randomly generated.

game opens up with the group cautiously entering the town square.

i never really have a strategy when it comes to playing this game unless it is to use the
trait Eagle Eye to sneak a peek at what threat markers are.

the thing emerges from the shadows.
"that thing is Mr. Jenkins, the hardware store clerk!"

a small creature makes their way out and advances towards the group.

another one from behind attacks Rita Lynn.

by this moment in the game i was on a good path of dwindling down the hit points of the Thing.
and as i was doing that the threat markers seems to begin inching their way towards
the group.

seems on the reason why majority of the game took place in one section of the
gaming area.

Puckett took a few aimed shots at Thing to put it down for good.

"i think this was someone's dog..."

at this point in the game i was actually able to start completing my objectives,
and becoming nervous with the threat level getting close to 10.

a threat marker reveals the paranoid sheriff with his pistol drawn.

at the end of the game i had a good portion of my objectives done, all threat markers
revealed, and the main villain taken out.

with the group's first episode under their belt,
i feel like i did pretty well.
with all the points calculated i scored a C grade,
which i am very pleased with that.

until next time....💀
