the Silver Cutlass

back when i bought the Silver Bayonet book i was anxious and excited to dive into it.
and then bought a few plastic sets of British and French infantry.
after some time the realization is set in painting military uniforms and such,
i got kind of overwhelmed and somewhat lost interest in it.

but recently i joined the official Silver Bayonet facebook page, i was getting an itch back in
myself of giving it another go.
then i read a post someone wrote about instead of using napoleonic miniatures would it be
ok to use pirate figures instead.
after many people were saying that's an idea i thought about it myself.
and thought that would be  a great idea.

i figured it would be different and easier to paint.

and like usual this puts more on the list of things to paint and get done,
in addition to the MotU figures to paint, the wild west Perilous Tales plus terrain, and now
what ever comes out of this pirate project.   


first i got myself the two player starter box set.
mainly for miniatures and sloops but also i see it as having another game to learn.


a militia box set for npc's for the Silver Bayonet game.
and i got an extra box of sailors by accident but it's always good to have extra.
i need to get some soldiers and a few more for Rita's spanish group.


i ordered some 25mm, 1.5mm flat bases.
which i think i went overboard....240 bases.
again, you can never have too many.

just a few figures put together,
the instructions for putting these together are kind of shady but overall nice figures.

    That looks awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how these turn out.
    And be careful, it can be risky going overboard with a pirate game.

      it's gonna be an adventure. I'm just gonna treat these like I did with the wild west stuff I have. quick and easy paint schemes.

    Great idea to use models you are more interested in painting, should help keep up the momentum in painting. The figures you've put together look very dynamic.

      it should be easy. those figures are of Maynard and Blackbeard, I'll prob use them as generic captains and such.

Snakemen for Frostgrave

so eager to start playing Frostgrave, i took the spare Ghost Archipelago Snake Men plastics and put them together and painted them to they are kinda frost and icy. i guess a little more cold blooded than normal. my wizard wielding a spear with the spear head clipped off and glued on the top little aquarium pebbles to give it a more primitive feel.   repeated the same process with my apprentice as i did with my wizard. with the staff and the glued pebbles.   an angry snakemen thug waiting for his payment.. went with a light blue base color and then water downed darker blue wash. then used different shades of brown for leather armor and such. still have several more to complete this warband. will post pics once they are finished, then it will be off to the last of the Snake Men plastics and i created a generic group of snake men but haven't decided on a color scheme. more to come with that small project.

lrn2play: HATE co/op

few weeks ago i saw on Miniature Market.com they had HATE on sale and this was a board game i was so interested in since its debut on Kickstarter. so i jumped at the chance and get the core box set and the three expansion tribes before they are gone.  and when i got my package i was so eager to open it. i waited for my girlfriend to come over after work to check it out also. and the quality of the product is a 9.5/10. no lie. so after a weeks or so getting the basic game play rules down, i asked my girl, Rita if she wanted to try it. in all honesty i was afraid she wouldn't like it. so i set up a layout of plateau tokens, instead of using the tribe miniatures from the two huge boxes of figures you get..(107 in total), i used the two expansion tribes instead. the Um'Tull and the Sarrassa. Blightlord Terminators WiP

so recently my loving girlfriend bought me the Dolorous Strain Kill Team box set. and at first i was kinda overwhelmed on how well these miniatures were sculpted. so much detail like the Death Guard space marines, my good friend said, "these aren't miniatures, these are models. if there is numbers on the sprue and directions these are not miniatures." and damn if he wasn't right. eight or nine pieces alone for the Blightlord Champion, back in the day Terminators had 3-4 pieces, even a character in Terminator Armor. but anyways, i went and put together the champion and primed him and went and did the same method of base coloring the miniature like i did with my Death Guard.  thinning down a green and brown paints with water, creating a wash. covering the model with a green and letting it dry and then going back over it with the brown. here are several pics of the finished Champion. after i completed the "model" i went back a...
