a few assorted miniatures for pulp and D&D

while i was working on the bearded devil miniature,
i was also painting miniatures in batches.
i guess i was doing this to keep my sanity in check and also from feeling overwhelmed.
i recently got several miniatures for Dungeons and Dragons and some for Perilous Tales.
and what is nice about some of these figures i got specifically for Perilous Tales,
i can use them in D&D also.
so that is a win-win.

here of late i've been having this ambitious idea of creating a character for each class in
Dungeons and Dragons.
not including the npc's i have created for story-lines, i mean actual leveled characters.
several weeks back i got a Wizkids Frameworks orc barbarian.
when i went to assemble him i decided to arm him with a great sword.
still haven't picked a sub-class for him,
i might go with something that fits the racial traits of being an orc.

originally i was going to add him to the Red Fangs orc tribe i created back in 2024.

i painted this barbarian just like those before but he came out too cool and decided to use him
as a barbarian character.
in his left hand he had an axe but i clipped it off because i wanted him to just have this
two-handed sword.
i think he just looks way cooler like this.

purchased some vine blights from Next Level Miniatures for a scenario for another
installment of my western Perilous Tales.

i painted them with a mixture of greens and browns,
i just didn't want them to look like bland walking plants.
i guess they came out alright, i didn't want to spend a whole lot of time on details.
just paint and be done.

i needed some plants for a scenario and didn't know what to use.
needed something that looked like a seed pod of some sort.
the only thing i had on hand were some of the foliage figures from the CMON
Clash of Eternia board game.

was gonna cut them down to just the pod of the plant but i decided against it because
i just wanted to get them painted.
i wanted them to look menacing and angry so i picked colors that remind me of like
poisonous plants or even amphibians.

finishing up another batch of figures and hopefully i can squeeze in a game of
Perilous Tales before i get deeper into D&D miniature painting.
our group's story is getting deep so that means more characters in turn, more painting.

    Excellent painting on all, my favourite has to be the brute, it looks like he's trying really hard to listen to a plan, but not getting any of it ! LOL

    What a wonderful collection.
    I like the orc too, and that's a great skin colour.
    The pod plants very nice minis, very menacing.

      i wasn't too sure about the plants but guess they will have to do.
      that orc does look awesome though, i love the position of the sword and how the head is turned. just looks badass.

lrn2play: Forbidden Psalm

for some time now i came across Forbidden Psalm from videos on Youtube and also reading about the role-playing game, MÖRK BORG. and i didn't think much of it but as time went on i kept becoming more curious about it. i began watching actual game-play videos to get a grasp on the table-top game. i think what attracts me to Forbidden Psalm is that it can be a fantasy game and i can get more out of my Dungeons and Dragons miniatures. i bought and downloaded a pdf copy of the rules and gave it a read and sat down and created a warband. i can say i would give it an A+ for putting together a creative rulebook but it is not printer friendly, so i might get a physical copy somewhere down the road. one thing that i find funny is that for the most part you use a 20 sided die. there are times you use other types of dice but for everything mainly for gameplay it's a d20. another thing about this game that i find interesting is that everything (for the majority) has a difficulty roll of 12....

potpourri mix of vermin and the uglies

i've been continuing cranking out miscellaneous miniatures for Dungeons and Dragons and even particularly Perilous Tales. finding miniatures in boxes and containers i forgot i even had, if i can throw some paint on it i quickly did, just to get them done and table ready. i guess it's wishful thinking of slimming down my plastic pile-a-shame. first off i found a small box of plastic creatures from Mantic Games i bought over a year ago and only painted certain creatures from it, so i took the little swarms of snakes and did them a quick green and some shade. and along with those i also found the last of my small toy snakes i remember from a plastic toy set from Wal-Mart. i painted two of these snakes before but this time around i did them in the same green to make it look like a happy snake family. for some time now i had the Mansion of Madness second edition board game from Fantasy Flight Games, just collecting dust and Rita and i haven't played it for some time now. so i to...

a dwarf and the merrymen of the forest

recently i found more miniatures that need much love and paint. and i have to say after painting these i wish i still had my old Bretonnians from back in the day. Bertrand the Brigand and his Faithful Comrades, or what my girlfriend calls them, the Men in Tights. section featuring them from the 1999 Annual catalog. as i was looking these up i was also flipping through the pages of other Warhammer races that were out at this time when these were released. good times! to keep Gui Le Gros like a poor friar, i painted him with different shades of browns as such, and then also not have his ale barrel match his clothing, or least try not to. i painted Bertrand the Brigand with the usual greens as Robin Hood would of been. i went with a red feather in his cap and also carried this motif when i went to paint Hugo Le Petit.
