Chronicles of HATE - clash one

Rita and i decided in between our pulp games we been doing,
that we begin on a journey of an uncertain path which involves HATE..

we played a few games to get the basic rules down but we never really thought about
doing a chronicle before or actually taking the time to read up on the ins and
outs of the bookkeeping after the game.

so this past weekend we did a quick read up on the aftermath of what happens afterwards,
doesn’t seem all bad once you actually do it for real.
(just a side note, i did not paint any of the miniatures, mainly because i
want to take my time and do a really good job, they are so damn detail and nicely sculpted, i just don't want to ruin them. i used the pics below to show what the tribes we used for our chronicle look like.)

each tribe has one Prince as a leader, a tribe champion, a tribe shaman, six warriors
and two young bloods,
this game is basically all melee and rarely no range attacks except from the young bloods.
thinking they use crude bow and arrows or slings.

the Um'Tall tribe that specializes in poisons.
Rita has really taken a liking into these.
their shaman rides a wolf which makes her extremely
dangerous and very mobile.

the tribe of Bul'Gar,
beliefs in the mystic ways of shamanism.
have to admit this is my favorite tribe to use.
with the basic lineup as everyone else,
the Bul'Gar has it's Prince, tribe shaman and champion considered shamans,
so when it comes down to using tribe cards and using the shaman abilities,
instead of one shaman, they have three.

first battle

with the first clash between our tribes,
we selected the Burning Hills where the attacker must pillage three huts and the defender
must take out six members of the attacking tribe.
i was attacking so i got to go first.
the Um'Tull have the red bases and the Bul'Gar with black.
any tribe members without a colored base disc is an enemy model under

at the end of round one, nothing much took place.
just advancing forward with caution, picked up some resources.

by the end of second round,

fair amount of my tribe was knocked out.
i used one of my shaman abilities from my Prince since he was the only one
not down to take control of her Prince and try to cause havoc.
she took out four of my tribe members, only needing two more.
i also was able to pillage a hut.

Rita only needed two more members of my tribe to be knockout or killed
and i still needed two huts to pillage.

closer look of the chaos.
was able to take control one of her knocked out tribal members and pillage the
left side hut, while i took one of my own and pillaged the right side.
by the beginning of round three i was able to sneak up past the carnage on the right side of the board to take a hut.
but she was on the hunt to get her two more kills.
this game was not going my way at this point.

pretty much a mere several minutes into the third round,
i was able to pull off some shenanigans and weasel my Prince past hers
and take the last hut to win the clash.

by the time i took the last hut to win, Rita only needed one more to win.

after all the paperwork and updating our village papers,
i selected a Hall of Heroes so i was able to add a mercenary to my tribe.
i picked Char the Vengeful.

second battle

for our second battle, i let Rita pick the scenario and she selected the King of the Hills.
the attacker needs to get as many of their tribe on the plateaus at the end of any round.
the defender needs to have more than the attacker by end of round three.

this time around Rita becomes the attacker and gets to go first.
i took the moment and sat out a weak young blood and used my
mercenary, Char the Vengeful,
see how well he does.

sadly this game only went for one round.
Rita tried her best to get up on the plateaus, but i wasn't having any of it.
for both of us we were picking up resources from the trees to get something out of this blood bath.

towards the end of round one, Rita opted out for a retreat.
at one point i kind of had doubts i was going to make out of this one.
in my opinion i think one factor on her defeat was horrible dice rolls.

here are some pics of noteworthy moments:

ranged attack from one of my young bloods and a melee attack from higher ground was enough to knockout two of her tribe in one fatal swoop.

i was desperately trying to pull off some cheesy shaman trickery but it wasn't happening.
she got one of her warriors to push one of mine off the plateau but in turn my champion pushed that warrior off as well.
eye for an eye.

so Rita for some reason thought it was a great idea to push my merc off the plateau.
Char the Vengeful survived,
but as retaliation i charged her Prince and her shaman,
and brutally maiming them.
but it was a sneaky poison spell that took Char down.

i think my favorite moment is when there was a small skirmish for resources from a tree,
that turned into a free for all.
but Rita got a warrior up on the plateau but eventually found themselves taken out by a warrior of the Bul'Gar tribe and then pretty much having their lifeless body punted off the edge by my Prince.

at the end of the game,
Rita had two members of her tribe on the plateaus,
i had seven still on top.

by the end of the first clash,
the Bul'Gar tribe has conquered lands almost stretching across the map.
just have to see how successful they are going forward in the chronicle.
