Rook
was going through some unpainted Wizkids D&D miniatures and
realized i had gotten a pack of kenku characters and totally forgot.
one was a melee and the other is a spellcaster.
so me being me i wrote up a character that i wanted to run with
for some time now...
a death domain cleric.
one of the reasons why i really love Dungeons and Dragons is
that i can create characters i want to see.
and who doesn't love a walking raven with an ability to raise the dead.
now i did not realized until i wrote the character sheet that the kenku
does not have a spoken language so when role-playing,
i have to make cackle and bird like sounds to communicate with others.
(LOL 😂)

Rook strolls through a graveyard looking and curious who will answer his call..
few of the recent dead comes to life as zombies.
Rook is confronted by a rival necromancer.
the zombies begin to advance towards the dark wizard.
as i did the cleric's sheet, i also decided on what spells to use.
i picked Spiritual Weapon and being able to create a weapon to use to fight with,
i figured it would be fun to actually have it and represented on the table.
i used a scythe from an old Games Workshop skeleton plastic set.
trimmed down the skeleton hand that was on it and pinned it to a cut paper clip,
onto a 1.5 base.
painted it just like i did with the ghosts i painted last month.
white base coat and watered down light blue,
then dry brushed very lightly with white again.
Really nice work!
ReplyDeletethanks, i tried my best to paint the miniature with a diverse selection of dark colors and yet still make it pop.
DeleteKenku are great fun. In my world they act as very reliable messengers, transmitting the message exactly as they heard it, and in the sender's voice.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how the summoned undead follow a series of whistles and meeps??
haha, "I wonder how the summoned undead follow a series of whistles and meeps?"
Deletedidn't think that far, was just too into the whole imagery of a kenku "necromancer."
i would assumed he was an apprentice of a cleric, or even studied such dark arts from afar.
they can mimic sounds so i guess he can mimic commands the kenku has heard over time.
now you got me thinking...
Or how about mime? "What are those zombies doing?" "I'm not sure sir, but they appear to be trapped in a glass box"
Deletehaha. thats funny.
